QSC supports SportScheck in introducing SAP HANA

Cologne, 20 March 2018 – SportScheck, one of Germany’s largest sports item retailers and itself an organiser of sport events, will be working in future with real-time analysis of its data. To this end, the company will be converting its database system from Oracle to SAP HANA. QSC AG will be supporting the company, which is part of the Otto Group, with its advisory and specialist competence in the retail sector. With its Pure Enterprise Cloud (PEC), the ICT provider will be making the SAP systems CRM, ERP, BI and PI flexibly available to SportScheck on an SAP HANA basis.

Cloud and real-time database for optimal customer experience 

“Our aim is to bring people with an active lifestyle and an interest in sports together – whether at our store, online or at our sports events”, comments Bernhard Puchberger, head of the IT department at SportScheck. “Technology has never been an end in itself for us, but is always part of our corporate strategy. By introducing SAP HANA based on flexible cloud structures, we will significantly enhance our customers’ experience by evaluating data in real time and recognising our customers’ needs even more closely.”

The conversion to in-memory database technology and launch of the new SAP CAR (customer activity repository) functionality, for example, will enable the company to perform just-in-time stock enquiries on product data in its stationary and e-commerce retail businesses. According to Bernhard Puchberger, this will increase the quality and speed of enquiries and thus significantly enhance the quality of information for customers.

Stabile SAP services for SME companies

QSC already accompanied the introduction of SAP at SportScheck in 2014 and is the sport retailer’s largest hosting partner. By connecting product data from company’s stores with data from the web store, the SAP launch enabled SportScheck to offer a multi-channel shopping experience.
